Yarn bomb bike rack

I completed a new year's resolution AND 40 before 40 goal by yarn bombing a bike rack in my neighborhood!

Completed cozy on Dearborn between Polk & Harrison

It's not quite done yet; as you can see, i need another three feet to complete the right-hand side. Still, I'm proud.

Basically I measured the circumference of the bike rack (about 7 inches) and crocheted a sleeve out of scraps from other things. (So I also worked on my decluttering goals - yay!)

Once the sleeve was pretty darn long, I rolled it up and brought it downstairs this morning at about 6 a.m. I don't know if yarn bombing is legal, but I didn't want to get caught doing it by the police that patrol Dearborn Park every morning around 6:30 a.m.

Proto-cozy
I left a long tail and sewed it up on premises; while I was working, a random guy came up to me and said, "I love when you guys do this!" So apparently I am now a part of some secret cadre of yarn graffiti artists.

I've got a boat load of spare fingering weight yarn, so I am trying to figure out something to yarn bomb in the spring, maybe with something lacy. Anyway I'm really excited for how it looks and that it's finally complete!
