Stashbusting with dish cloths

I've been on a dish cloth frenzy lately to clean out some cotton yarn from my stash. We just moved and I have no reason to keep some of my craft stuff, including dozens of balls of random cotton colors.

I started out with a few dish cloth patterns that I got for free from Knit Picks:

Zig Zag Dishcloth (Faith Schmidt) in Lion Cotton (Cloves colorway)

Spiral Columns Face Cloth (Faith Schmidt) in Lion Cotton Ease (Berry colorway)

Glacial Spa Cloth (Beth Major) in Lily Sugar 'n' Cream

I like how the knitted ones worked up, but the crochet one by Beth Major was way quicker.

I also improvised a few, with some modified granny squares:

Bright retro colors
Cool neutral combo
And finally I tried out some patterns from an old crochet and knitting book from my grandma's collection from the 1960s.

Overlapping Stitch pattern from Mon Tricot 1030 Stitches book

It's been fun to work through some patterns in a low-stakes way, and of course it feels good to clear out my stash. I'm going to give these away at Christmas time to my coworkers; I'll just bring a stack to work and let them pick out what they want.
