Two years and counting!

We attended our second-annual leukemia luncheon at Loyola Medical Center's Cardinal Bernadin Cancer Center. This is the hospital that treated Dad's second bout of leukemia, and this year he got to wear the "2-year survivor" pin! We saw quite a few survivors about, and it's great to mix together to make this struggle seem less solitary.

My parents were there...

As was Grandma Smith...

And, of course, Dad's stem cell donor, Uncle Ed, with his wife, Aunt Sandy.

This year we did not bid on the silent auction; not only was there not much stuff to bid on, but last year someone stole the basket I won while I was in line paying for it. Ugh! So this year we just got lunch and bolted. And the food was good, especially the desserts:

So, basically this was a solid weekend of diet ruination. Back to the drawing board...

Dad and I are very glad you and Dave were able to make the luncheon again this year. It's a nice little celebration they put on. Next year we'll all have to wear T-shirts alike that have SHERMAN on them, like some of the other families. See you at the Luekemia Walkathon!! Mom
