So, I leave work yesterday afternoon and take my outer sweater off in the parking lot, because it was really warm. While I was doing this, I set my glasses on top of the car's roof. You can see where this is going.
I get in the car, open the sun roof, and drive off — and it wasn't until I was almost to the Post Office that I realized that I had left my glasses on the roof. I was so mad — I haven't been this mad at myself in a while, not since I lost the wedding ring, anyway. I imagined my glasses had been thrown off my car onto the pavement, where they were run over again and again by unknowing coworkers.
When I got to the Post Office, I got out and looked at the roof, just to see if the glasses were there. It's one of those situations where, you know they're gone, you just need to look, like it's a car accident or something.
And...
My glasses were unbelievably still sitting on my roof.
I had forgotten that when I open the sun roof, it descends about an inch, providing a little well where my glasses did not fly off the roof when I turned, sped up, or braked. Therefore, I was driving around with my glasses on top of my roof for about 45 minutes. (My Rx sunglasses were on my head at the time.)
So, thank you, Honda sun roof, as well as my friend, Dumb Luck. Now, I just need some help with that wedding ring...
