Missing the husband
Dave in the Vatican Museums So, Dave has been gone more than 24 hours, and it's so bizarre to be without him for the first time in...well...since we started living together, I guess. Last night I realized that I'm still afraid of the dark when I'm alone, so I slept with the lights on. How pathetic is that??
I did take Zelda for a walk last night with her new leash — it was fun, although I think she needs to go out a few more times to get re-accustomed to the leash. She got some nice exercise digging in the grass, and I got some funny looks from neighbors.
The whole "afraid to be alone in the condo" thing probably wasn't helped by the fact that I'm in the middle of "The Devil in the White City," a historically based novel about a serial killer that stalked women at the 1893 Chicago World Fair. It's an interesting book so far, though. Dave forgot "The Master and Margarita" in my car, so he's without reading material, unfortunately.
Quote of the Day:
Chicago in "The Devil in the White City" —
"Anonymous death came early and often. Each of the thousand trains that entered and left the city did so at grade level. You could step from a curb and be killed by the Chicago Limited. Every day on average two people were destroyed at the city's rail crossings."
