Clutter worth keeping

First off, before you do anything else, go here and listen to the whole thing. Makes you wonder what the world would be like without that blasted Electoral College!

'Twas a good Mother's Day weekend — hung out with Jackie on Saturday and spent quality time with my mom at the brunch buffet at L.A. CafĂ©. She liked her present — a photo frame I made, with a picture of wacky kid-sized me.

We're really getting into spring cleaning at the condo, and our garage sale pile is growing sizeably. Being the packrat that I am, it has been difficult to rid myself of some of the clutter; however, after reading numerous articles on de-cluttering tips, I have told myself that if I don't love it, it's leaving.

Speaking of leaving, it's been sad lately at work, because not only have all my coworkers been telling me how much they will miss me, but I have realized how much I will miss them, and the company, too. It's taking a lot of will power to stay the course to law school — wouldn't it be easier just to stay here, in my comfy chair and cubicle, with my 3% raise every year until I retire? Sigh.

And going through my old stuff has turned up some interesting snippets push-pinned to my cube walls:

"Expectation is often better than realization." - Fortune cookie saying

"Your problem lies not in a lack of ability, but in a lack of ambition." - Another fortune cookie wisdom

"You think that is a secret, but it has never been one." - Yet another fortune cookie saying, and a very mysterious and ominous one at that

An article: "Christians issue gay warning on SpongeBob video"

Post-its with quotes:

"Hey, you should start selling eggs, man. What was it, $500 a pop? Good god! My sperm is worthless by comparison." - Dave

"Yeah, wedding veils are expensive. It's like buying a dress for your head." - Jen Jen

"Limits" by Jorge Luis Borges (excerpt)

Of all the streets that blur into the sunset
There must be one (which, I am not sure)
That I by now have walked for the last time
Without guessing it...

If there is a limit to all things and a measure
And a last time and nothing more and forgetfulness,
Who will tell us to whom in this house
We without knowing it have said farewell?
