It's official - my favorite ice cream flavor of all time is no more.
Daiquiri ice has been my favorite flavor since I first walked into a Baskin-Robbins with my mom after pre-school. My favorite color at the time was turquoise, so the baby blue color of the ice cream seemed an easy choice.
Throughout the years, daiquiri ice has remained the same - until now.
I began to suspect something when I kept going into Baskin-Robbins and seeing the apparently mislabeled daiquiri ice - a bright green ice cream labeled "Daiquiri Ice," but looking more like the brief-lived margarita ice. I thought the workers at my store had just made a mistake, but it happened at several locations. Tonight I went online and found confirmation on Wikipedia: they changed the color and flavor of my beloved daiquiri ice. (Why, WHY!)
So, probably the last time I will ever taste the baby blue variety was a few weeks ago when I was at Woodfield picking up my repaired ring. Little did I know!
Damn you, Baskin-Robbins, trying to make everything brighter and more intense for the miscreant consumers of today! What of subtle flavors and muted colors? Of softness? A relic of my childhood, put up onto the chopping block of neon, saccharine, speedy consumer marketing.
Damn.

Holy crap!! I'm sorry Val! We need to hold a funeral.
By the way, Harry Potter has not come out yet, but I already hate it. Working at a movie theater really changes how you think of movies... especially when 30 people call to see when the midnight show is playing... when we dont even have one.
Hope all else is well
Michelle
That does suck!
Yeah, Baskin Robbins is already suffering because of competition. Why mess with its few remaining customers? I won't be going back.
