Today Dave had a half-day off, so we had a little date in the northwest 'burbs.
We've been meaning to go paddleboating in the Palatine park district forever, and today we did. It was a lovely day, so we did.

First, we rode a hydrobike, which is a kind of bike-on-a-kayak that we rode around the lake for a bit. Very odd feeling, to be sitting on a bike, riding around on top of the water.

Anyhoo, fun though hydrobiking is, it's not very fun on the backside, so eventually we moved into marginally more comfortable transportation: a paddleboat. There, we were able to lazily paddle around the lake, taking in the scenery and making fun of children.

After all this good outdoor exercise, we decided to continue the date over to the Schaumburg cinemas and catch a movie. We were a few minutes late for the showing of "Knocked Up," which I want to see, so instead we caught "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End."
The movie was decent, though the plot was way too convoluted for me to consistently understand. The end was unsatisfactory, for a romantic like myself, but they'll probably just pump out a fourth one to tie up all the loose ends.
All in all a good day - continue on with the summer of Val!

That sounds like fun! I've never heard of a hydrobike...I really want to try it now!
