We have reached Day 5 of Dave Flu Time 2007. Dave came down with a nasty case of the flu on Sunday, which has continued until today, the first tijme he worked a full day all week.
I never realized how much we depend on each other until something like this happens. Dave could not drive me to the train station, nor could he go grocery shopping or do dishes - he could hardly even sit up for more than 30 seconds straight.
Meanwhile, I was finishing up the biggest paper of the semester, and I have been terrified of getting sick. My classroom is already full of all kinds of microbial life, such as cold, flu, mono, bronchitis, strep throat, scarlet fever...and who knows what else.
Dave went to the doctor yesterday, and the good news is that Dave is on the mend and I probably won't get his flu. His doctor was surprised I hadn't gotten sick with flu yet, and guessed that I'm immune to this strain because of my bout of flu last September. (Hey, if that's true, I earned that immunity - that was the worst flu I can remember having in my life.)
However, the bad news is that I have come down with a cold. Not as bad as what Dave's got, but it's no fun. Guess I'll be spending the first couple of days of spring break in bed...
