Karma's a bitch

So much for the immunity I was talking about in the last post.

This morning, I woke up at 4 a.m. with a 101.4 degree fever. Obviously, I couldn't go to class - I was pretty much delirious. Not only that, but I wouldn't want to give anyone this over their spring break.

I was so upset, too - I never miss class, and tonight I had two invitations to go do stuff (Bad Movie Night with the law folks and an Irish band with my friend Helen), not to mention tomorrow's St. Patty's Day plans. Sigh...

It seems no good deed goes unpunished. Here I nurse Dave back to health, then I get what he had. I think there should be some kind of karmic immunity for spouses, doctors, nurses, etc., so that we don't get sick from what our patients have.

The one good thing is that all my law friends really seemed to miss me today, hehe. I pretty much slept through the entire day, but I didn't realize that my cell phone was off. So I turned it on about 20 minutes ago and there were five messages ("Val, are you OK? You never miss class!" "Val, are you dead?! Call us and let us know you're OK!"). This, in addition to a bunch of e-mails, too. (Thanks for the notes, Bill!)

Dave's bringing home some happy barbecue, and I'm probably going to pass out again. Thanks for everyone's well wishes, and I hope everyone has a great spring break.
