Bunny M.D.
An old photo of our little girl
Took the bunnies in today for their checkup, so here's the news for those of you following Ill Bunnies 2007:
Little Man has been pronounced totally cured! When bunnies have an abscess, bones grow around it a bit to try to close it off from the rest of the body. Well - that's all that's left, and even that may go away eventually!
I haven't yet had the satisfying phone call to the old vet, to inform them that Moby was fine even without their unnecessary surgery. I'll definitely post about that when it occurs.
My vet isn't sure what's going on with Zelda's eye, but most signs point to an abscess behind her eye. We started her on the same medicine Moby took, and we'll watch to see what happens.
I called another bunny "parent" that I know, and she told me one of her bunnies had the same thing. Actually, they caught hers later, so the eyeball was actually bugging out quite horrifyingly. The penicillin took care of it, even at that stage. What I'm worried about is the possibility that it's a tumor behind her eye. Signs point to an abscess, because of her other recent tooth infection, but because she's an older rabbit, cancer is definitely possible.
Sigh, if it isn't one thing with these bunnies, it's another. But I'm getting pretty good at sticking them with the medicine, so at least this is ridding me of my fear of needles! (Sort of.)
