Thankful Things

So I'm probably not going to post much over Thanksgiving weekend, considering (1) I have to study and prepare outlines; (2) I already have a full social calendar, and (3) my parents have dialup. Imagine, my poor laptop will be searching for a wireless network connection in vain!

Therefore, I thought I'd do a list of all the things I'm thankful for now, that way I don't have to try to get up after consuming mass quantities of turkey. Julie did a list like this, and I thought it was a very good idea.

This year, I'm thankful for (in no particular order):
  • My health - not a day goes by that I don't think about the fact that I've never had a broken bone, or stitches, or anything more serious than chicken pox.
  • My parents - I'm happy I have a great family to come home to during the holidays, and at every other time of year. As I have become an adult, I notice which aspects of my personality I've taken from each of my parents, and it makes me happy that I see a little of them in me. (A lot, actually.)
  • My sister - every time I see Michelle or talk to her, I'm happy I have a sister I can laugh with. Childhood would have been pretty lonely without her.
  • My in-laws - I really do think I have the best in-laws in the world, and that they really have taken me as their daughter in every way.
  • Dave - he is everything I ever wanted in another human being, and every day he does something to remind me why I chose to be with him for the rest of my life.
  • Old friends - even though everyone has been busy, I have gotten to see so many of them downtown and at the condo these past few months. As the years go by, you really do know which friends are going to be there for you forever.
  • New friends - during the last few months at DePaul, I gained more new friends than I would have thought possible. I'm happy to have met every one of them.
  • My rabbits - they may destroy our electric cords and baseboards, but I am grateful that I have two of the cutest (and sweetest) bunnies ever.
  • Dad's cancer treatment - I'm thankful that Dad is going to be treated at one of the best Chicago hospitals, by experts that will save his life. And I'm grateful that Uncle Ed is bravely and proudly going to give some of his stem cells so that his little brother can regrow his bone marrow.
  • Sweet home Chicago - every day when I walk downtown, I'm amazed at this city's beauty, history, and versatility. Just when you think it can't get any better, they decorate for Christmas.
So that's what I'm thankful for - these things and many others. It's been quite a year - one of the most hectic of my life. Soon it'll be another year, another semester, another job, and another load of casebooks. What a wonderful life. :o)

So what does Dave think of his ranking? Thanks for putting parents before hubby. Dad is always kidding that you girls get all the bad traits from him, and the good traits from me. He jokes about it, but I guess it's true. Guess I should work on my list.

I said it was in no particular order! ;o)

I think I got a lot of good traits from both of you. I'm glad I got your hair though - so we can make fun of the bed-head that Dad and Michelle get every morning!

Bed-head - good one. Michelle, no comment on that one?
