Oh how fast a year goes...

It was a fun weekend on the road, and a good weekend to celebrate our one-year anniversary!

We headed down to my parents' house on Friday,
where it appears the art project I worked on with my dad is going swimmingly - we did some puzzle art and Dad matted it with some glass, but he's still working on a frame. I'll take & post pictures when it's all finished.

Then down to Bloomington for the Cemetery Walk, which is always a good time. I got to visit with my old internship supervisor from the museum, Mary Anne.

The Cemetery Walk is a good way to get into fall, with actors portraying interesting characters from Bloomington's past. There are few better ways to get into the Halloween spirit than to cavort around a cemetery on a brisk fall day. Plus we got to learn history! (God, I'm a dork.)

We also got to hang out with the Bloomington folks, like Julie, Jamie, Alex, and Joker, as well as some out-of-towners, like Kate, Burt, and his new girlfriend Melinda. When there is a newbie in the group, and you're sitting around telling wacky stories from the college days, you start to realize just how, uhh, "wacky" those college days were. Stories begin like, "Remember when we stole Julie's bed?" and "God, I remember when Ed had to talk Steve Yap out of standing in the bathroom stall naked for no reason."

Saturday night, we went to Creatures Crypt Haunted House in Bloomington, which was as spooky as I remember from my college days. Last year, it was voted the #2 haunted house in Illinois on HauntedIllinois.com, actually. The wait was sort of long, but I certainly ended up getting frightened quite a bit inside.

We had to head back early today, because Dave has to finish a paper, and we had to get some things cleaned up around the condo. However, we did get to go out and do something romantic for our first anniversary, which was go out for tapas!

La Tasca has always been one of our favorite restaurants, so we went there for some romantic atmosphere - not to mention patatas bravas, chicken & chorizo, and pork tenderloin tapas dishes!

They even comped us some flan:

Anyway, it was a good anniversary weekend, and I can't believe it's been a whole year of married life. Right about now last year, the night was winding down, guests were heading home, and we were slowly realizing that we were married, haha. Oh, and then we had to try to chase down the chick who stole Jen Jen's purse.

Ahh, what a night it was.

Wow, 1 year, and some said it wouldn't last! Just kidding. Doesn't really seem like a year to me. Sounds like you had a very busy weekend, glad you 2 could hook up with Michelle and Alex.

Here's to many more happy years.
