Glass is bad for your skin

OK, I'm about to go to bed, but I wanted to write a post about a harrowing experience I had at JoAnn this evening.

I went to pull a sheet of glass out of a box, and a broken shard cut my hand open. I knew immediately that it was bad, so I wasn't surprised when I pulled my hand out and I was already bleeding profusely.

The first thing I did was flex my fingers to see if I'd severed a tendon. (Ewww.) Luckily, all my digits were functioning properly. I applied pressure with a paper towel and it seemed to slow the bleeding.

I called a manager over to inspect the damage, and we concluded that with a little pressure and plenty of bandaids, I'd be okay. However, I still almost fainted and vomited, and somehow the sensations occurred contemporaneously.

I haven't been cut this badly since I sliced myself open during college while chopping oranges & lemons for some sangria.
I'm still pretty grossed out by the whole situation - I guess this is why I'm becoming a lawyer, not a doctor.

Oh no! I hope your hand heals soon. I remember when you cut yourself making the sangria; that was bad.

Ironically, I sliced my finger on some glass the other day too--those edges are sharper than I thought!

Too bad you're not a lawyer yet, or you could sue them!

Must be a week for cuts. Dad cut his finger at work, lost part of the nail. It looks really gross.

Good thing I had girls and not boys that I had to take to the emergency room bleeding, I wouldn't have been able to handle it. Valerie, I guess you get your wimpiness from me.
