Even Steven

No posts for a few days, I have been sick. It started on Friday as a throat tickle, then a cough, then a full-out fever and flu this weekend. This is the first time I have felt well enough to get up and check my e-mail, let alone do a blog post. But something happened Friday worth writing about.

It was quite stormy Friday evening, and my train home was delayed. At 5:05 p.m., they told us we'd have to wait until 5:30, but it was almost 6 by the time we moved.

Obviously, as I was getting sick, I used this time to pass out. But still, waiting in a stationery train for almost an hour isn't a fun experience. But when I finally got to Arlington Heights, I saw something that made the wait almost worth it:

It was the brightest, biggest rainbow I have seen in a very long time. I didn't have my camera again, but it happens that Dave was looking at it at the same time, and took a picture from his office.

This weekend, I have felt like that episode of Seinfeld, where everything bad that happens to Jerry is counterbalanced by something positive. True, I was stuck on the train for an hour, but I got to see a lovely rainbow. True, I didn't have my camera, but Dave did. And yes, I got sick, but at least it was over a weekend, and not during the school week.

You can't have a rainbow without a storm.
