Silence of the Russians

I need to stop taking late-morning trains.

Today, I may have caught plague from a snot-hocking Russian. It seemed that every 45 seconds or so, unabashed sounds would emit from his nose, throat, and various other unidentified body organs. Ick.

And last week, when I took a different late train, I sat directly behind a snarky teenager who insisted on loudly contradicting everything her grandmother said to her. (Was I ever that wretched? Ugh!)

I love taking the early-morning commuter trains. Not only are they faster (with fewer stops), but people just get on, silently take their journey, and get off. No plague-stricken Russians; no nasty teenagers.

Still - it beats driving.

Valerie - no, you were never that wretched.

Yes, commuting is great fun. I miss my 3 minute commute, every morning and every afternoon, especially if it's raining (why does wet pavement make people drive 30 mph less?) I do carpool with Ed a couple of days a week, it makes the ride go much faster because we talk office "stuff" the whole way. Don't worry, you'll soon tire of ALL train people!

Good point...there were some dumb people on the train today expressing such high-thinking opinions about physical fitness such as:

1. Running is bad for you

2. If you want to lose weight, just eat less.
