Mussermania Part 2

And now for the penguin exhibit at the Shedd Aquarium! These little birds are really astonishing, and unbelievably funny. They were easily my favorite exhibit at the Shedd. We could watch them run around and peck at each other for hours.

Amazingly, they have forme
d their own little ecosystem within the exhibit, even laying and hatching eggs with selected partners. While we were there, a few couples were building nests by carrying rocks across the exhibit, and one even had a chick:

The little chick was so cute and fluffy! We caught it sitting up for a couple of pictures. Its mother was very protective, snapping at any penguin that dared come too close to the two of them.

Then, of course, it was down to Wilmington, IL, for the Catfish Days festival - or, really, we came down to see my dad's band play.

They played a couple of sets around a laser light show, but we only caught the first set and the laser show. The band was good, as always, but the laser light show was, shall we say, a little...primitive. Nonetheless, I had no idea what to expect, and I doubt I could produce a better laser light show myself, so I shouldn't complain.

We really wore ourselves out Saturday, but it was a good time, and Dave & Deb got a good taste of what Chicago has to offer! Dead Egyptians, penguins, lasers, and all!

Valerie - the editor! I caught a spelling error! Mark this day in history. You have bad, you meant to say band, I think. Other than that, nice blog. Love the penguin pictures and Dad's band, too bad Dad is the one you can't see! Ah, the joys of being the drummer!

Oh, I fixed that error. Damn! And I made fun of Dave when someone corrected a spelling error in his...

I tried to get a picture of Dad up close, but it came out all fuzzy. Dave also got a decent laser light show picture, but no room among the penguin shots.
