Good News and A=A=A=Creepiness

Just got pictures back from Mandy's bachelorette party — look how happy the blushing bride is with her ... uhh ... balloon! She gets married in two weeks — an early congratulations to Mandy & Ed!

In other exciting news, Zelda is officially on the mend. Yesterday and today, she has been much more alert & active, and she has been eating solid foods. Unfortunately, the better your bunny feels, the more averse they are to taking their meds, so it's getting to be a pain to put those ear drops in.

Yesterday, I found some information on one of my new favorite websites that should give you a good case of the willies.

I have been reading a lot lately about Scientology, since the whole Holmes-Cruise thing has put it into the spotlight again, and Rolling Stone had a really great article that I read through and through. The more I read, the more creeped out I get. Have you tried reading their online glossary? Can someone please explain what A=A=A=A is???

However, these two celebrity quotes should raise an eyebrow or two among you:

"Shakespeare was déjà vu for me," said Tom Cruise. "It was so cool. I felt as if I had seen his words already, knew them all by heart. Then, after I began studying Scientology, I realized the words had come from my own heart in a previous life. That's why I say that as glorious and enviable as my present life is, making 'War of the Worlds' and all those other great movies can't compare to writing 'Romeo and Juliet' or the sonnets."

Good one, Tom. Go fight some more aliens, why don'tcha.

Here's another slightly more dangerous one that came from Scientology devotée Jenna Elfman:

"During the last holiday season, the Dharma and Greg star refused to take part in a celebrity autograph auction for an organization that raised money for the care of children with HIV. Elfman stated that she couldn't support any organization that raised money for AIDS research or relief because 'AIDS is a state of mind, not a disease.'" (Source: The Daily Radar)

Now, this one is just awful. Come on, people. These are kids we are talking about here, who likely did nothing to contract HIV in the first place. (Admittedly, this quote may not have ever happened in the first place, considering that citing the Daily Radar as a source is both unverifiable - because it is now defunct - not to mention weird - because it was a gamer's site, not a celebrity news forum.)

Anyway, needless to say, I will not be converting to L. Ron Hubbard's cash cow "religion" anytime soon. Creepy stuff, people.

I knew the girl who played Dharma must be a psycho in real life too! Too bad she doesn't go around sleeping with AIDS victims--ya know, to "prove" that terminal diseases are "just a state of mind." Ignorant bitch.

Like you said before, I find it really scary that people are going around worshipping something that's really no more than a science fiction novel. When Jamie comes home saying he needs to go pray to the Chocobo, then I'll really start to worry. ;-)
