Prepping for the exhibit

The exhibit at Columbia College is coming up, and I have been yarn bombing tons of stuff around my house to prepare!

First up, and probably most impressive, is my bike! I used scraps or improvised to cover the bike body, but I wasn't sure how to get a nice round circle for each wheel. I ended up using my grandma's doily pattern, modified so I could sew it onto the wheel.

Some of the ladies doing the exhibit with me suggested yarn bombing recognizable sporting equipment, so I did my tennis racket and some balls!

You definitely lose some bounce when you do this!

Other things I'm bringing to the exhibit include crocheted fruit, yarn bombed jars, yarn bombed stools, a blanket, and random items. Should be a pretty random assortment.

My co-exhibitors have made all kinds of interesting items, from yarn bombing a TV to a phone to a basket. I love it all.

I'd hoped to include a globe, and I enlisted my mom to search garage sales for them. She eventually found one a week and a half ago at a flea market shop in Indiana! Hooray!

I wasn't sure what to do with it, but I decided to do a simple cover and then a rudimentary representation of latitude and longitude lines. I think it turned out pretty good! Boy was this terrifying. It seemed really not-circular, and also too big for the globe, until I sewed it on. It still spins, too! (Sort of.)

Find our fun exhibit at the Columbia College window at 618 S. Michigan Avenue from this Saturday through January 11! You can see the whole thing from the street, so it's safe, albeit cold!
