As I said in my last post, it's tough to come down off 1L and start relaxing again. However, I went to three parties this weekend - a Friday law party, a Saturday graduation party, and a Sunday baby shower - so I guess other people have scheduled relaxation time for me!
Speaking of which, happy graduation to Jackie, one of my oldest friends. We drove down to the south side on Saturday to celebrate her graduation from undergrad. I was a little jealous - it almost feels like I could be done with law school right now, since we learned so much in one year that it felt like three or four. However, I'll just have to wait another two years for my esquire pedigree.
Oh, and I started some summer reading. I know it isn't much, but seeing as how the last installment of Harry Potter is coming out this summer, I figured I'd join some of my Quidditch-loving friends in reviewing books 1 through 6 before July. (I've been reading it between my research assignments!)
This week is a busy week for me, then we're off to spend some quality time with Dave's family at the beach in South Carolina! It's a MUCH needed vacation...

I've been wondering this for a while--what's the difference between a Juris Doctor degree and an esquire degree?
The degree I will receive is a juris doctor, which means I can put my name either of these ways:
Valerie Sherman, J.D.
Valerie Sherman, Esq.
So, there is no "esquire degree" - at least I don't think so - I just made that up to be weird. I think the more modern version is "J.D." not "Esq." Esquire is a remnant of British common law.
