It's been so busy these last few days that I forgot to write a note about Saturday and Sunday, my birthday!
First off, our new kitchen floors were installed on Saturday, and they look just lovely. (That was my real birthday present, I suppose.) However, the installers came at 8 a.m. or so, and after a long night of drinking, the miter saw was a little loud.
Speaking of which, I'm pretty sure we're going to be evicted; the saw was so loud that I'm sure we woke up neighbors. Oh well - we have to deal with their barking dogs, so they can deal with a flooring installation (if an excessively loud one).
Then, on Sunday, my parents came up to visit, and we went to Fuego, a nice little margarita bar in downtown Arlington Heights. My mom kept urging the waitress, "It's her birthday! Can't we think of something embarrassing here?"
The waitress did serve me some nice chocolate cake, although I was "forced" to wear a sombrero while they sang to me. (Hey, in this rainy weather, I might just wear it all the time. Catches the rain very nicely!)
Oh, but the bunnies were NOT a fan of the sombrero. We put it on the floor for a minute, and they started tossing it around. Sigh...
Before my parents left, my dad noticed that our fridge light was out. (It'd been like that for about two months - we had thought it was an electrical problem.) Well, Dad just screwed the light bulb in a few more twists, and the light miraculously worked again.
I think Dave and I are going to have to start taking lessons from him, or at least somewhere, because not doing things ourselves has cost us a lot of money in repairs to the condo.
Anyhoo, back to constitutional law reading. But thanks to everybody who helped me celebrate my birthday! It has been a fun one indeed.

I totally hear ya on needing some lessons on basic home repairs. Jamison knows how to do a lot of stuff, like put up drywall, but when it comes to other things like plumbing, heat and ductwork, we're just clueless. Like you said, I don't even want to know how much money we've wasted on easy repairs.
