This weekend I've sort of holed myself up to study and work on outlines, but on and off we've had the Food Network on TV in the background.
Because I like to cook, I get excited about helping to make Thanksgiving dinner. It's been fun watching all the Food Network chefs make different side dishes.
Paula Deen - queen of butter - was making something, and Dave said, "Look y'all, I'm gonna put a tub of mayonnaise on the table, and y'all gonna jus' eat it." (And did you ever notice how Paula doesn't even say "y'all," she says "yow?")
Watching Paula can really give you a frightening - although somewhat accurate - view of Southern cooking. Most Southern cooks don't drown everything in butter, sour cream, and lard - just like most Italian cooks don't yell "BAM!" when they're seasoning something, like Emeril.
Oh well, at least I'm getting some good recipes, and some moderate distraction from the law.
Absolutely Hystorical!
