Watch the herbs grow

Today it's a lazy day - thank goodness.

Lately, working two jobs and planning for school, I've been under a bit of stress. It's nice to not go anywhere for a weekend, as much as I like cavorting around the country on road trips with Dave.

I don't know if I've mentioned it here yet, but I have taken a part-time job at the JoAnn custom frame shop near my condo (in preparation for going back to school). It's easy work, and I know I'll be glad to have something nice and near-mindless to work on between reading and studying.

In fact, last week I had my first frame customer - and custom framing two posters makes for quite a large order. In the end, I designed a two-mat, two-frame set-up for a French-style cafe poster, and a one-frame set-up for a flower poster, and it ended up being...wait for it...$450. And that's 50% off. But my customer liked my designs so much, she bought them anyway!

I'm also waiting for DePaul to tell me my class schedule so I can buy my books and start reading - I've had several nightmares about arriving to school on the first day and not knowing where or when my classes were being held, so I hope they figure it out soon.

Oh, and I made an herb garden yesterday. It's kind of late in the season, but I'm hoping for at least a little basil before the first frost.

So, this weekend, no work, no traveling - just cleaning, and maybe I'll even paint my nails. If I feel like it.

Quandary: A state of difficulty, perplexity, doubt, or uncertainty

We all have that goal of having a mindless - or near mindless job, don't we?
